A Journey from Ohio to Lawrence

Albert Lee grew up in Central Ohio and earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University. With eight years of experience in supply chain and finance operations, he built a solid professional foundation before pursuing his MBA at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in Washington, D.C. After graduating in May 2025, he made the move to Lawrence, Kansas—this time for love.

“I moved here to Lawrence, Kansas, to be with my fiancée. She is a PhD student studying Special Education at KU, and we will get married in August.”

Excitement for What’s Ahead

Albert may be new to the region, but he’s already feeling the city’s energy and potential, especially with Kansas City playing host to global events.

“I’m really excited for the World Cup next year and am thrilled that Kansas City is a host site for some of the games.”

‍Leading On and Off the Field

Though he’s currently exploring his next professional opportunity, Albert brings valuable leadership skills from his time in Washington, D.C., where he served as a volunteer graduate assistant for the Georgetown University Football Team. There, he gained experience in sport team operations and administration—insights that carry over into any field.

“I learned many lessons… about leadership, teamwork, and healthy competition that I’ll carry with me wherever I go. SISU!”

Getting Involved Locally

Albert wasted no time building relationships and getting involved in his new home. He’s been getting involved through 2KC, became active with the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, connected with the Lawrence Tech Guild, and is also part of a local church family.

Advice for Newcomers to Kansas City

Moving to a new city isn’t always easy, but Albert encourages others to be proactive and find community through groups, organizations, and local events.

“I strongly believe it is important to make friends and build community wherever you go… You will likely be surprised at how eager people are to connect with and help you.”
