Spotlight: Noormah Khan

Aug 8, 2025

From Strategy Consulting Abroad to Venture Capital in the Heartland

Originally from Pakistan, Noormah Khan recently moved to the U.S. after spending the past three years working in strategy consulting at a boutique firm serving clients across the Middle East. She now calls Kansas City home following her marriage—her husband has lived in the city for the past ten years, making it a natural and meaningful transition both personally and professionally.

What’s impressed Noormah most about KC is the genuine sense of community. It’s rare to find a city where people are so open, warm, and eager to help others find their footing. That collaborative spirit is especially evident within the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystems. Being surrounded by driven, forward-thinking individuals has been energizing and inspiring.

“I’ve been especially impressed by the collaborative spirit and generosity within the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem.”

Investing in KC’s Future

Professionally, Noormah serves as an Analyst at Prevail Strategies, a Kansas-based venture capital firm managing a $100M fund focused on transforming industries like healthcare, technology, and gaming. One of the most exciting aspects of her work is the firm’s sector-agnostic approach, which allows it to back a wide range of transformative ventures. Her role sits at the intersection of investment screening and value creation, with a focus on building international partnerships that can help elevate Kansas City’s visibility on a global scale. At Prevail, Noormad specifically works closely with their VC partners to source and evaluate early-stage opportunities. Together, they’ve already reviewed over 200 startups, with a select 1–2% moving forward in the pipeline. Noormah’s responsibilities include analyzing industry risks, assessing market comparables, and conducting financial evaluations to support investment decisions.

Having worked across multiple continents, Noormah brings a global lens to strategy and investing. Whether it’s refining a founder’s go-to-market strategy or navigating cross-border deal structuring, she aims to bridge cultures and markets in a way that drives long-term value. Early in her career, she launched a lamp business right after college, which taught her how to navigate uncertainty and gave her deep empathy for the founder journey.

“Whether it’s helping a founder refine their go-to-market or supporting cross-border deal structuring, I can bridge markets, cultures, and financial thinking.”

Building Community & What’s Next

While she hasn’t had a chance to dive too deeply into the local scene just yet, Noormah is excited to engage more in 2025 through groups like New2KC, KC Rise, and MidXMidwest. She’s especially drawn to efforts that empower women in business and tech and is eager to contribute to that momentum.

A professional goal of hers is to independently lead a deal from sourcing through close and to play a significant role in helping a portfolio company scale globally. On a personal level, Noormah is focused on building deep, meaningful relationships in her new hometown.

“Professionally, I want to independently lead a deal from sourcing to close and eventually play a pivotal role in scaling a portfolio company globally.”

Finding Familiarity and Connection

One of the most surprising discoveries Noormah has made since arriving is how many people she’s met who are also from her hometown, Oman. That unexpected familiarity has helped her feel at home more quickly than she anticipated. She’s also been delighted by the city’s food scene and, more importantly, the warmth of the people who make KC so special.

To anyone considering a move to KC, her advice is simple: say yes to every opportunity to connect. “KC is a place where your efforts don’t go unnoticed, and that’s incredibly motivating.”

Connect with Noormah

The best way to connect with Noormah is via LinkedIn. She’s always open to conversations with passionate founders, investors, and collaborators. “Just shoot me a message if you’re new and looking for a friend,” she says. “I’ve been there myself and would love to help.
