From Coasts to the Heartland

Alexandra’s journey to Kansas City has been anything but ordinary. She was born and raised in Redondo Beach, California, so she moved to New York City for school. She spent several years immersing herself in East Coast life before eventually returning to Los Angeles. The opportunity to move to KC was an exciting chance to explore the “middle” of the country. Drawn by the city’s vibrant neighborhoods and a blend of energy and community, Alexandra and her husband leaped.

“Having lived on both coasts, it felt exciting to experience the Midwest,” Alexandra shares. “We were drawn to KC because it seemed to have just the right amount of activity and community spirit. So far, it’s been a great adventure.”

• Mexican Food: “Coming from LA, I didn’t expect to find such great Mexican food here, but places like Red Kitchen in Overland Park are incredible!”
• History: The stories of westward pioneers have fascinated her, reminding her of the resilience and adventurous spirit she sees in the entrepreneurs she supports.
• People: “Everyone is genuinely kind and welcoming. If you make the effort, connecting and making meaningful contributions here is easy.”

Advice for Newcomers

Alexandra encourages anyone considering a move to Kansas City to embrace its unique qualities:

“There’s no traffic, so you can maximize your time doing what you love. The people here are truly kind and welcoming. Like anywhere, you get what you put in, so go to events, be open to meeting new people, and put yourself out there. You’ll find connecting here easier than anywhere else I’ve been genuine.”
