Spotlight: Hemkesh Agrawal

Fueling Innovation in KC’s Startup Ecosystem
Kansas City continues to attract ambitious founders who are shaping the future of tech, and Hemkesh Agrawal is no exception. As a technical co-founder of a stealth startup, Hemkesh is leveraging his expertise in software development and venture-backed growth to revolutionize how Homeowner Associations (HOAs) manage compliance and financial operations.
The Move to Kansas City
Originally from India, Hemkesh pursued Computer Science & Engineering at Michigan State University, where he immersed himself in the startup world through the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. His entrepreneurial journey began with co-founding a startup that brought the “Uber for odd jobs” concept to college campuses. Now, with his latest venture, he’s focused on scaling a SaaS platform that simplifies HOA management.
As his startup grew, Hemkesh sought a city with a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem, access to top talent, and an affordable cost of living—and Kansas City checked every box.
Building a Startup in KC
Hemkesh’s company is tackling a real pain point for thousands of HOAs across the country, streamlining complex financial and compliance processes with software solutions designed for efficiency. With Kansas City’s thriving tech scene, collaborative startup community, and abundant resources, he sees KC as the perfect place to scale his business and contribute to the local ecosystem.
Plugging into the Community
Even though he’s only been in KC for a little over a month, Hemkesh is already diving into the city’s entrepreneurial scene:
- New2KC January Meetup – Made valuable connections (and even tried pickleball for the first time!)
- TimeLeft App Dinner – Matched with five strangers based on shared interests, leading to great conversations
- Upcoming Startup & Tech Events – Excited to attend more pitch nights and networking meetups
What Makes KC Stand Out?
A Collaborative Startup Community – Founders genuinely support each other’s success
The Streetcar System – A surprisingly efficient (and free!) way to explore downtown
World-Class BBQ – He’s already started forming strong opinions on the best spots. We’ll have to report back later on “the best.”
Looking Ahead
Professionally, Hemkesh aims to grow his startup, establish a physical office in KC, and build a strong local team. Personally, he’s eager to explore the city’s food scene, attend more sporting events, and mentor early-stage tech founders.
