Spotlight: Quincey Bernard

From Port-au-Prince to KC: How Quincey Bernard is Building Wealth and Opportunity Through Innovation
Nothing beats getting to know transplants who bring global perspectives and big dreams to our growing city—and Quincey Bernard is the perfect example. Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Quincey made his way to Kansas City by way of Nebraska, with international business experience and a passion for financial empowerment. Today, he’s not only guiding clients through complex wealth strategies, but actively building a new platform aimed at educating the next generation on how to manage money with confidence.
A Global Perspective Meets KC Opportunity
After earning his degree in International Business at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Quincey began his professional journey in Omaha. But he soon realized he was ready for something bigger. That “something” turned out to be Kansas City.
“KC felt like the right size,” Quincey explains. “It’s more approachable than places like Chicago or New York, but still full of opportunity. Especially in the startup space—there’s real room to grow and contribute.”
His current role as a Wealth Consultant at Adams Brown Wealth Consultants in Overland Park has him working closely working with affluent families, business owners, and individuals. As part of a wealth management firm backed by a CPA powerhouse, Quincey helps clients navigate everything from investment planning to tax strategy and estate transitions.
That said, his side venture has also been capturing attention.“What excites me most about being in KC is the opportunity to make a real impact. This might sound cliché, but I believe it—there’s space here to grow alongside the city, and I want to be part of that momentum.”
Introducing Lajan Learning
Still in development but already turning heads, Lajan Learning is Quincey’s vision for an edtech platform designed to teach high schoolers and young adults the essentials of personal finance through bite-sized, gamified lessons.“There’s a huge need for education that turns into proactive action,” he says. I want to make it fun, engaging, and practical. And I think KC is the perfect place to launch it.”
He plans to pitch the concept at Digital Sandbox, aiming to secure early-stage support and continue building momentum for a public rollout.
A Career (and Life) Rooted in Connection
Quincey’s multicultural background gives him a unique lens on his work and community-building efforts. Fluent in Kreyol and French, and with time spent living in China and Spain, he’s developed what he calls “contextual awareness”—the ability to see nuance and connect across cultures.
“That global exposure gave me emotional intelligence and adaptability that I now bring into client relationships, business strategy, and community engagement,” he explains.
Recently, he’s also gotten involved with Keystone Innovation District as a way to reconnect with his passion for entrepreneurship and social impact.
Paying It Forward in the KC Ecosystem
Beyond his professional goals, Quincey is committed to being a connector.
“One of my personal goals is to give more than I take,” he says. “Whether that’s a referral, advice, or just being a resource—kindness and authenticity go a long way.”
His advice to other newcomers? Get involved early.
“You’re only a few conversations away from your next opportunity,” he says. “KC is more diverse than you might think, and the community is welcoming. The sooner you plug in, the faster you’ll feel at home.”
